Kirsten In The Catskills

These are the last of my pictures from Kirsten's visit to New York. I have a couple of left overs from our time in the city, and a few from our visit to a friend's house in the Catskills.

I also ran into something really weird in the forest. I don't know how to describe it exactly, and I've worked everyday for two weeks, so my brain has gone a little soft. It was a small, but very deliberate space, made up of a 10' square rock wall with a fire pit and 4 small branches that had been planted in the ground and tied together.

I still don't know what to make of it, but it was cool to look at, so I took some pictures.

These are all taken on my cheapo Fuji digital.

Kirsten Likes Coffee

I guess I only had one other picture from the city, but I think I like the picture as much as Kirsten liked the coffee. This was on the sidewalk at a small cafe in the West Village that I'd never been to. It was really good, and they made a special salad for Rachel, who was eating a totally raw diet for all of August.

I might change the name of these to St. Margaret, the icon on her charm.

The whole thing was made up of this rock wall. Like I said, very deliberate.

The tree branches were buried in the ground and tied together at the top, with a small bunch of flowers dangling from the middle. The leaves were still green and didn't seem to have been there more than a couple of days.

This looked like some kind of doorway.

But what would you do with an 18" tall doorway?

Possibly the strangest thing is that it was just sitting there in the middle of the forest. I still haven't figured it out, but I'm glad I had the cam on me.

Take It Back To The Old School 2

These are all pictures of old pieces of arty crap. Most of the stuff is mine, some of it was made by true Superartist Tzam Blakablak, and some of it we made together.

I just realized, the name of this blog should probably be Mike's SuperArty Crap. Duh.

Art Is Fun

This is a picture I took at a speech Tzam gave at a university in Binghampton, New York. The painting on the side is an inches-to-feet reproduction of The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali. We did the painting a few years before Tzam was invited to the conference, but this was a great excuse to show it off.

Of course, the speech finished off with a fine rendition of 'The Stinky Butt Dance', if I recall correctly. Too bad there's not a video.

This is Casey. She went to Binghampton with us.

Take It Back To The Old School 1

I've got a bunch of old pictures stored up, I thought I'd post the decent ones.

The first set is from a night when one of my roommates in my early days of New York decided to get two additional piercings in her outer labia. Oof. The others are mostly portraits, a lot of visitors from Kansas in my various shitty apartments. I don't know about the artistic merit of the work, but they sure make me happy.
